Believe it or not, Emily turned 8 years-old this year and still didn't know how to ride a bike! I tried several times to teach her when she was 5 and after one big spill she decided to call it quits! Emily's has that perfectionism personality so it's a big deal for her to be wrong or bad at anything she tries. I would bring up the bike often in conversations and she felt very strongly that there was no need for a bike as long as she had a scooter! haha
One day we had a day off from school and the weather was amazing so the kids spent the afternoon outside. Emily started to pull her bike out and asked me to air up the tires... which I quietly did without making a big deal so I wouldn't embarrass her. She put on her helmet hopped on the bike and took off as if she'd been riding for years!
Hmmm... maybe I will just wait until Megan is 8 as well! ;)
