The Power of One!

At the beginning of the school year, CT Eddins began Rachel's Challenge... a program inspired by Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine shooting. Every student was given a t-shirt to wear during special Assembly and Kindness Days, when a major part of their day was spent focusing on acts of kindness toward others. On May 6th, during the Swine Flu Epidemic, the top story on Channel 8 News went to CT Eddins Elementary and their special rally to celebrate their dedicated first year to Rachel's Challenge. You may view McKinney ISD's story here
Be sure to look for Emily at 10:40! :)
Each 2nd Grade class also wrote and illustrated a book at the beginning of the year that they had published. Here is the cover of the book... a picture of Emily's Class.
Here is Emily's story and illustration!
The book is so cute and such a great keepsake! We are so proud and grateful to be part of such a wonderful school!

Girls Day At The Pool

We had planned to go to Celebration Spray Park in Allen... but when we got there they were closed...preparing for an event on Saturday. (Moose out front should have told you kinda deal!) :) So we headed back to the neighborhood pool for the day... which was probably better for me anyway... it was 101 degrees and this way I could could play in the water too! :)
This is the first time Emily has seen her BFF Hope since school. Hope was in Canada and missed the last fun week of school... so it was sweet to see how excited they were to see each other again!
These gals make a great pair!
Megan invited Jessica! Yes... A GIRL!! But only because her 3 boy friends already had plans for the day. It was funny to see her interact with Jessica outside of school... she wasn't as chummy with her as she is with the boys. haha
Say "Cheese"
"Hello, hello... is anyone there?"

Father's Day

The girls and I got up early that morning to make Daddy some special Lawn Mower Cupcakes... even though he's not owned a mower in about 10 years! (hee hee) Today was also Aunt Kerrie's Birthday, so we decorated a few with Butterflies for her!
We had a delicious lunch at Granmamma and Daddy D's house and cooled off for a bit in the pool...where the girls found a new little friend.
For Dinner, we met Granddaddy, Grandmommie and Aunt Kerrie in Lewisville.

A Day Spent at Grandma and Grandpa's House

Grandpa wasn't going to be around on Sunday, so the girls and I went to visit him the Friday before Father's Day! It was so hot that day that we spent most of it indoors playing Wii. In the evening when the sun with less firece we went out to fly the kites that Aunt Sissy bought the girls.

Oops... got stuck in a tree!
Megan was feeling pretty sad about her kite being so high in the sky. At the time she wouldn't tell us why, but today she told me she was afraid it would go up into outer space.
Grandma reeled it back to earth and saved the day!
Emily, on the other hand, enjoyed flying her kite so much she was getting tired of standing and had to sit for a bit.
Megan had more fun feeding the fish!

Radius Ribbon Cutting

Wayne had a ribbon cutting for Radius this morning and the girls and I went up to support daddy and take pictures... little did I know we would be included in the picture! This picture cracks me up... the girls wouldn't take their eyes off the scissors... guess they didn't want to miss the big cut!
The McKinney Chamber meetings are held at Saltgrass Steakhouse. While waiting for dad to finish "working" the girls had fun playing on the restaurant steps and walking on the 3 foot wall.

Later that afternoon the girls and I met Aunt Kerrie for lunch at BJ's in Lewisville.
Then a little stop at Old Navy where Megan met some new friends! She was a little overly friendly with them... constantly hugging and kissing them! What made it even more funny is that these "friends" were right at the front door so everyone walking in had a little chuckle!

First Time Fishing

Wayne and I have never taken the girls fishing and poor Emily has been asking to that for about 2 years now. The girls spent their first week of summer with Grandmamma and Daddy D and one of the activities during the week was fishing! No fish were caught but they had a great time!

We Have The Bestest Friends Ever!

How do you know when your friends are like family??? When they swipe part of a cake from one birthday party and bring it to celebrate your kids' birthday a month late! haha Katrena is better than me though... I've still not gotten Bo a gift and his birthday was in February! Wayne and Chris were out driving the Radius truck on the ad route.
Left to Right: Tyler, Carson (Tyler and Bo's cousin), Bo, Emily, Katrena and Megan.
We love the Harts... life would be much less fun without them! :)

First Day of Summer

On our first day of summer we went to Bedford to visit with Meme. We also got to see Amy, Mom, Dad and Brian and his family... his wife Amy just popped in on her lunch break! :) The girls love any chance they get to play with cousins, Madison and Mathew!

Mom and MemeFeeding Meme's Fish

We sat on the porch most of the day. The weather was great for June... in the shade the temp was perfect! It was a nice relaxing way to begin summer!

Last Day of 2nd Grade

I did not attend Emily's last day of school party, but I was able to snag a picture of Emily and her teacher Mrs. Scales in the pick-up line! We love Mrs. Scales... she has been a really great teacher for Emily! I hope Megan has her when she is in 2nd!
Emily had a great year and passed her classes with flying colors... especially Science and Art... I call that the best of both brains! ;) Soooo... off to 3rd grade she goes!
Here are a couple pieces of her art that I absolutely love!

Megan and Zach

Megan and Zach have been in the same class for the last 2 years and Megan just loves him to death... and they play awesome together so I just love him too! :) Unlike most of the kids in Megan's class, Zach would have gone to the same school next year... but Zach is even younger than Megan and his parents decided to hold off on Kindergarten for another year. However, we plan to schedule many play dates so these two can stay connected!
Having the all important cookie and lemonade break!

Radius Mobile Media Banners!

As you may already know, Wayne is in the Ad Business now! He designed the banners himself to promote his business. I think he did a fabulous job... they look awesome!
The pictures I have don't do justice to how great his banners look... it was difficult to get pics without glares that evening.
Wayne inside the truck operating the rollers.
This back banner especially looks awesome at night when it is back-lit! I'll be sure to take and post some pics of that soon!
Here is a video of how the banners look when they change. The truck was pre-owned by a company in Florida and came with old banners that are all in Spanish. :)
