Mexico!

This year for Christmas, Nancy and Dennis, very generously took us to Mexico! It was an amazing trip that we will always treasure!

The first night we stayed in downtown San Jose del Cabo at the lovely Tropicana Hotel. The hotel was beautiful and very charming.

The rest of the week we stayed at Nancy and Dennis' timeshare at the Fiesta Americana Hotel. The girls are enjoying the stunning view from the balcony of our beautiful home for the next week.
Here is a view of Fiesta Americana from the water. They are still doing a lot of building.
Dennis' daughter Eden and her husband Gary and daughter Paige were also on the trip. They joined us from California. This is Paige, Emily and Megan at the beach in front of the hotel.
There were several pools to jump into... this is one of them.
Lucha Libre!!! This is what Megan quickly spent all her pesos on! (hee hee)

One day we took a drive out to a great little town called Todos Santos. On the way we stopped for a beer and enjoyed some art at a place called Art & Beer!
Art & Beer also had a very interesting bathroom...

I think the drinks may have been some of the "art"!
After leaving Art & Beer, we took a drive down a pretty long dirt road and came upon a very happening beach in Cerritos
Sadly, I didn't get a good picture of how many people were there! This beach seemed to be in the middle of no where but there were hundreds of people there!
Welcome to Todos Santos!
Todos Santos was a very charming little town with an abundance of shops with
beautiful art.

One early morning, Nancy stayed at the hotel with the little ones while the rest of us took off for a day of deep sea fishing.
I just happened to be the lucky one at the pole when a 62 pound Wahoo was hooked... although we didn't know that's what it was until I reeled it in.
It was a lot of work and I felt like I was constantly reeling with no end... I was told it was about 20 minutes. It ended up being a nice little work-out for my arms that I felt for 2 days after.

I had to squat down next to my fish... it was 66 inches long (which is my height) and weighed 62 pounds.
The captain of the boat pulled him up for me!
During our fishing, we also caught a Pelican! :) A few of these birds saw our bate and would swoop down to snag them... and unfortunately, one got hook. The first-mate had to reel him and and unhook him... and all was okay.
We also encountered seals! Tehy kept swiping our bate... it was actually pretty funny... and very unexpected!

We learned that a Wahoo this large is rarely caught and had it been caught during the Wahoo Competition a few weeks early it would have been worth the $10,000 prize. I got a competition t-shirt and we sold the meat that we couldn't use too a nearby restaurant for $120.00.
One afternoon we went on a Whale Watching/Snorkeling Cruise. We didn't see one whale but they keep you drunk enough that you don't care too much! (hee hee) We actually saw several whales from our hotel and on the fishing boat so we weren't too disappointed.
Ready to snorkel!
