After Emily's morning soccer game, Grandma, Grandpa and I took the girls to a fundraiser at one of the high schools. We got there in time to see some of the parade!

First Day to be a Butterfly!
Megan started school on Tuesday September 9th. This year her class is called The Butterflies and she will be going 3 days a week... Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Last year, I don't recall one morning she was excited to go to school... I had to pull her off of my leg every morning I dropped her off. This year, she already loves school! On Wednesday night she had a runny nose and I told her we would have to see how she feels in the morning and decide if she is well enough to attend school... she quickly perked up and said "I'm fine!" This week she will be able to be dropped off in the car pool line, like we do for Emily each morning... Megan can't wait to do this... the car pool line means she's a "big girl"... like sister!

Ready to Start 2nd Grade!
Emily's first day of school was on Monday, August 25th. We had "Meet the Teacher" night about 4 days before and on that night Emily learned that her good friend, Hope, would be in her class again and their assigned seats were next to each other... so she was very excited to go back to school! So far she really enjoys school... she even sets her alarms and gets up and dressed before I even get up in the morning.

Great Wolf Lodge
Emily and I, along with our great friends Katrena and Tyler, spent a couple days at Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine. It was a really cool hotel with both an indoor and outdoor water park. We left Megan with Granmamma and Daddy D because we were informed by friends that had been before that it was a difficult place to keep up with 2 kids of different swimming levels. I was sad that Megan could not join in the fun, but I also really enjoyed spending the one-on-one time with Emily... it's been a while since we've been able to do this.
We started the day off slow on the "baby slides" then we progressed to the much larger, faster slides that required inner tubes! Emily was barely tall enough to ride these so I wasn't sure if they would scare her... lucky for me they did not and we all had a blast on them!
When we were feeling a bit waterlogged, the hotel had other activities to enjoy, such as Build-A-Bear... Emily made a wolf for Megan! The kids got an airbrushed tattoo, they got to "build" their own pair of Crocs and we played a scavenger hunt game with sorcerer wands throughout the hotel. Sadly, I have no pictures to share of these activities... my camera battery died. :(
At night, we retired to our cool "cabin" hotel room. The kids had a separate "tent" area with bunk beds. This was the first time Emily had eve slept in a bunk bed and she was anticipating doing this several days before.Sunday, August 3, 2008
