Downtown McKinney 4th of July Parade!

The morning of the 4th, there was a parade in historic downtown McKinney and Wayne's business got to be a part of it! The girls were very excited to ride in the truck and wave to everyone! This picture was taken right after Megan wiped-out and skinned her knees... which also caused her to spill 1/2 of her snow cone... which I think was more devastating of the two!

Here they come...
I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I was in charge of the truck decorations...Let me just say "Slim Pickings"! I didn't go shopping until July 3rd... went to 3 different stores and there was nothing left! Finally, I found a few items at Hobby Lobby... but not even they had an American flag left!
Oh well... lesson learned... we'll be lookin' more festive next year! ;)

Stonebridge Ranch Freedom Celebration

On July 3rd our neighborhood community, Stonebridge Ranch, held their special 4th of July celebration. We got there early to see some of the shows and get a good parking space.
Megan putting on her own little show...

Wayne's 14 year-old cousin, Tyler, was in town visiting too! Elvis even came to perform for us! So did Cher, The Blues Brothers, The Beatles and Roy Orbison! haha

And of course you can't have a celebration in Collin County without a hot air balloon! haha

1st Week of Camp

All 3 sets of grandparents gave the girls a week of summer camp for their birthdays! This past week Emily went to Play with Clay Camp... she thought it was even more fun than The Zone and Mexico! Mexico??? Really??? haha All week long she got to create little clay sculptures... these are just the ones she made on the first day!
Megan went to Under The Sea Camp. This was unfortunately not her first choice... Diggin' Dinos Camp was already full. But she still had fun learning about sea creatures and making lots of crafts... for the first few days anyway. I think she is still looking forward to her other camps though... 1,2,3 Come Cook With Me and Super Hero Camp!

The Power of One!

At the beginning of the school year, CT Eddins began Rachel's Challenge... a program inspired by Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine shooting. Every student was given a t-shirt to wear during special Assembly and Kindness Days, when a major part of their day was spent focusing on acts of kindness toward others. On May 6th, during the Swine Flu Epidemic, the top story on Channel 8 News went to CT Eddins Elementary and their special rally to celebrate their dedicated first year to Rachel's Challenge. You may view McKinney ISD's story here
Be sure to look for Emily at 10:40! :)
Each 2nd Grade class also wrote and illustrated a book at the beginning of the year that they had published. Here is the cover of the book... a picture of Emily's Class.
Here is Emily's story and illustration!
The book is so cute and such a great keepsake! We are so proud and grateful to be part of such a wonderful school!

Girls Day At The Pool

We had planned to go to Celebration Spray Park in Allen... but when we got there they were closed...preparing for an event on Saturday. (Moose out front should have told you kinda deal!) :) So we headed back to the neighborhood pool for the day... which was probably better for me anyway... it was 101 degrees and this way I could could play in the water too! :)
This is the first time Emily has seen her BFF Hope since school. Hope was in Canada and missed the last fun week of school... so it was sweet to see how excited they were to see each other again!
These gals make a great pair!
Megan invited Jessica! Yes... A GIRL!! But only because her 3 boy friends already had plans for the day. It was funny to see her interact with Jessica outside of school... she wasn't as chummy with her as she is with the boys. haha
Say "Cheese"
"Hello, hello... is anyone there?"

Father's Day

The girls and I got up early that morning to make Daddy some special Lawn Mower Cupcakes... even though he's not owned a mower in about 10 years! (hee hee) Today was also Aunt Kerrie's Birthday, so we decorated a few with Butterflies for her!
We had a delicious lunch at Granmamma and Daddy D's house and cooled off for a bit in the pool...where the girls found a new little friend.
For Dinner, we met Granddaddy, Grandmommie and Aunt Kerrie in Lewisville.

A Day Spent at Grandma and Grandpa's House

Grandpa wasn't going to be around on Sunday, so the girls and I went to visit him the Friday before Father's Day! It was so hot that day that we spent most of it indoors playing Wii. In the evening when the sun with less firece we went out to fly the kites that Aunt Sissy bought the girls.

Oops... got stuck in a tree!
Megan was feeling pretty sad about her kite being so high in the sky. At the time she wouldn't tell us why, but today she told me she was afraid it would go up into outer space.
Grandma reeled it back to earth and saved the day!
Emily, on the other hand, enjoyed flying her kite so much she was getting tired of standing and had to sit for a bit.
Megan had more fun feeding the fish!
